Yesterday I got a call from someone and he started asking about me. I asked him, 'who are you?' but he didn't revealed who he is but told about my schooling days. After sometime, he told he was my school mate and got my phone number from some social sites.
First thing, I was surprised to know that someone who was my classmate in 10th standard and remembered me, calling to meet me now after 15 years. I am still in touch with my few 10th standard mates but this voice sounded bit unfamiliar.
He gave me some clues to find out and finally I figured out who he is. After our schooling, he is the only guy who left our circle and went to some other state. So, there is no communication from him after that. But it was very nice to get a call from someone who you know long time back.
And interestingly how he got my number was, he searched my name in google which took him to my linkedin and other sites/blogs. Thanks to social sites, as sometime this helps for this kind of cause too :-) !
Overall, it is nice feeling !

Guru Dutt - A Life in Cinema
Last week I went to shopping with one of my freind to MG Road and Brigade Road.He wanted to buy some clothes, as he wants to attend some important marrigae.
We have been to some shops and he is very choosy and won't select in short time. He requires ample of time to take decision to buy simple T-shirt or Jeans.I m quite opposite to this and gets very irritated for long shopping especially for clothes. While he was shopping, myself and one of my other freind went outside and started walking in the NASA pub road and reached at the 'CoCo Beer Bar'. As I was alredy exhausted by walking from the morning to different shops, thought of relaxing by having a beer at that bar. Before I go into the bar, happen to see the 'Blossom book shop' which is next to that bar. Then immediately went into the book shop, as that is one of my favourite shopping.
When I looked at the collections, I was surprised that some rare collections of film books are here. In Bangalore, I have been to most of the books stall and here I found something rare books. In the films category, I have got 'GUru Dutt' autobiography, who is one of my favourite director. I took the book and immediately back home to read the book. I have seen Guru Dutt films and like 'Pyasa', Kaagaz ke Phool', 'Mr and Mrs 55', 'Sahib bibi aur ghulam'.
After reading the book, was surprised to know that 'Guru Dutt' born in Bangalore and was here in the childhood though shortime.I read how he went to calcutta, started film career and produced films. It is nice book and worth reading if someone is interested in Guru Dutt.

My exp with sony Xperia X1
I generally like the latest gadgets and tend to look for the same when I purchase any mobiles / audio systems / electronics. When I went to Germany last year, happen to see sony ericcson Xperia X1 with one of my colleague and really impressed by it's features. So, thought of taking the same and enquired about the price. It was bit expensive which is around 600 EUROS.I callled couple of my freinds in India & UK and enquired about it's price. Finally I decided purchase in India, as I will get good after sales service.
After coming to India, the first thing I did was to go to mobile shop and purchase Xperia. One of my freind wanted to buy Iphone, we thought we will buy at the same place so that we get good discount. I just went to couple of shops and finally zeroed to one where we know someone and took a Iphone and Xperia.
I felt very happy and on that day whole night, was looking at it's features and setting up my outlook client, GPS and updating contacts. It was very helpful in emailing stuff and also in organizing things.
But after sometime, the real struggle started as it got some software problem and behaving weird without my intention.Sometime , it will automatically dial the numbers from my contact list and not sure which numbers it will pick. I always afraid that it should not pick my BOSS number, as he is in US timezone and shouldn't ring at the wrong time. And moreover the volume is low and the voice clarity is also not good. I managed it for 9 months after purchase, but one day suddenly my touch screen was not working. This time I got bit frustrated and went to Sony ericcson service and asked for the repiar. I thought of almost beating the guy by his answer, as he said it would take 15 days and that too costs around Rs 5000 which will not come under warranty.
One thing to note here,I used it in very rough way like I use my laptop :-)and didn't hanlded in smooth way. May be that could have caused this chain of problems with that phone.
Finaly, I decided to sell it off and get rid of that mobile.I asked the service center, how much I can expect for this mobile and he told that I will get 25% of my total cost of mobile. Now I decided to go for Iphone and looking for the latest 3G model.
From this I undertsood that I got white elephant and not a mobile phone :-) !
